Field Notes
A short par three with plenty of character. The tee shot looks inviting: a short iron to a big green. But if you miss, your troubles have just begun.
This downhill tee shot makes it hard to get the right wrench in your hand. Get that right number and it offers a good chance for birdie.
- Take one less club than the yardage suggests, but respect the size of the green.
- The bunkers guarding the green are deep and punishing. Center of the green is the smart target.
- The tee is sheltered, but the ball can be exposed to wind above the treeline. Check the treetops.
- As the 17th handicap hole, this is a birdie chance when you pick the proper club.
Putting Tips
This green is friendly most days, but left-side hole locations deserve extra respect. What looks simple from a distance can become tricky once the putt starts moving toward the edge.
- Left-side pins: When the hole is left and beyond the midpoint, avoid getting too aggressive because the green can fall away behind the cup.
- Across the green: Putts from left to right play more uphill than they appear, so trust the climb and give the ball enough pace.
- Best mindset: Be confident on most putts, but protect against speed when the pin is tucked left.
