EagleSticks does not ease you in. This opening hole is a full-length par 4 that bends gently left, and the fairway bunker on the right is deep enough to turn a routine drive into a bogey.
The green itself is generous in depth but demands respect. Miss the correct tier and you will be facing a difficult two-putt.
- Aim up the left side of the fairway for the cleanest angle into the green.
- The right fairway bunker is deep and punishing. Give it a wide berth off the tee.
- Long hitters can chase the downslope, but two solid shots is the smart play for most golfers.
- Pay attention to pin position. Being on the wrong tier of this green can turn an easy par into a three-putt.
Putting Tips
The green at #1 rewards golfers who read the tiers correctly before committing to a line.
- Two-tier green: confirm which level the pin sits on before choosing your target line.
- Uphill putts from the lower tier tend to come up short if you do not commit to the line.
- Downhill putts from above the hole can run well past if you are not careful with pace.
- When in doubt, favor the low side. It is an easier two-putt than fighting the slope from above.
