A Pure Mid-Iron Test

This is a pure mid-iron test. No water, no gimmicks, just a straightforward shot that demands precision.

This green is deep and narrow and one of the most difficult to putt. An approach shot that misses left is an almost certain bogey, but missing right is no bargain either. It’s one of those holes that rewards a solid, confident swing directed to the middle of the green.

If you are going pin-seeking here, buyer beware.

Golf Shop Talk (FAQ)

How much club do I need?

With an uphill tee shot and a 42-yard deep green, club selection varies wildly. Check the pin position and add at least half a club for the elevation.

Where is the safe miss?

Short or straight is better than left or right. The green is narrow, so accuracy is paramount over distance.

Why is this Handicap 7?

Despite being a short-iron hole, the penalty for missing the green is severe. Recovery shots from the sides are difficult, leading to many bogeys.

Is the pin accessible?

It depends on the day. If it’s tucked, “buyer beware.” Aiming for the center of the green is almost always the smart play to secure par.
